The Teachers Union in Central Equatoria state on Tuesday discussed major challenges affecting their performance.
Teachers Union Chairperson Peter Lodu said teachers and councillors from across the state were meeting to discuss the union’s activities and major challenges to find solutions, Bakhita Radio reported. He described the meeting as vital because it gave room for teachers to identify difficulties facing them at different levels.
Fr Lodu added that the major challenges facing teachers in the state included salary delays, overcrowded classrooms and lack of on-the-job refresher courses.
He said some teachers did not received any course after completing their levels.
Fr Lodu vowed that teachers would not surrender but continue serving the state and the country.
The meeting was opened by Acting Minister of Education Mary Apayi and the representative of Central Equatoria State Trade Union.
The state teachers Union was officially established on January 16, 2012.
