The auxiliary bishop of Prague, Czech Republic, has expressed great admiration for the way South Sudanese live their faith amidst difficult situations.
Bishop Vacklav Maly told CRN on Saturday that faith is alive, full of hope and pleasure in South Sudan. He said believers in Europe were tired of faith.
Bishop Maly said he experienced pleasure in Yambio and Tombura seeing people singing and dancing during Eucharistic celebrations despite very difficult social situations.
He urged South Sudanese believers not to lose hope but be patient.
Bishop Maly met President Salva Kiir earlier in the morning.
He said the President briefed him on the process of reconciliation in South Sudan and about the need to construct a civil society to overcome tribal tensions.
The prelate described the meeting with President Kiir as cordial.
Bishop Maly said he visited South Sudan because in Europe they only heard about war in the new country, but also experienced faith, hope and pleasure.
