A report released on Saturday by an independent institute said the main sources of insecurity in South Sudan are ethnic violence, state or non state armed forces and urban criminality.
Sudd Institute Executive Director Jok Madut Jok told CRN that the report his institute published in Juba mapped out sources of violence in South Sudan.Dr Madut said ethnic violence dominant in the rural areas tops the map, followed by armed forces and security violence perpetrated by officers on duty or individuals who have deserted the army.
He added that urban violence is due to youth unemployment and non-payment of salaries to security agents.
Dr Madut said the report recommended general peace and reconciliation all over South Sudan to resolve the issues of insecurity and heal the wounds from the liberation war.
He added that all security sectors should be reformed not by reducing them but inculcating values and principles that all organized forces should uphold.
