SPLM, NORWEGIAN LABOUR DISCUSS PARTY BUILDING COOPERATION

Sudan People’s Liberation Movement or SPLM and the Norwegian Labour Party held a two-day meeting in Juba to discuss a cooperation project to build South Sudan’s ruling party.

Norwegian Deputy Finance Minister Kjetil Lund – who led the delegation to Juba √ɬê told journalist that they held good substantive discussions to support the SPLM.

However, he said the SPLM had to shape its way forward.

Mr Lund said the Norwegian Labour Party and the SPLM entered into cooperation projects to shape the future of the SPLM and of South Sudan.

He said the discussions were good and addressed policy choices with regard to the future of the SPLM.

Mr Lund added that his party could share its experiences, but the SPLM and the South Sudanese needed to find their own ways and choose their own models.

The SPLM is preparing an extraordinary convention to review its fundamental documents including the Constitution and Code of Conduct in February.
