Nurses working in Nuba Mountains were called to render their services to the community in spite of difficulties due to the 18-month war.

Many nurses and community health workers decided to move to South Sudan and other neighbouring countries to look for better paying jobs following the outbreak of war in June 2011.

SPLA-North Brigadier General Marko Challingi Lotilo condemned the move of Nuba citizens to other countries in search of better jobs and security.

He said all that is needed is to serve the community and to protect people from diseases and enemies.

Brigadier General Challingi appreciated Tom Catena for giving services to the community in this difficult moment and called upon the nurses to benefit from his knowledge.

He thanked the administration of El Obeid Catholic Diocese and Bishop Macram Max Gassis in particular for establishing Mother of Mercy Hospital to provide medical support to the Nuba people.
