The Governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal is carrying out daily inspections on government institutions and ministries to assess their performances.

Rizik Zachariah Hassan gave the green light to the Minister of Education to fire any teacher refusing to teach in rural areas and announced that the issue of a boarding school in being finalized by the State Council of Ministers, Voice of Hope reported.

The Governor explained that he gave directives to county authorities to reveal the amount of revenue being collected for education and use the money to improve the quality of education.

State Ministry of Education Adel Atanasio Suror disclosed that the state had 25 secondary schools.

He announced that students in the state would be doing South Sudan’s Secondary School Exams this year.

Mr Atanasio lamented that the increment of salaries in the organized forces encouraged a considerable number of teachers to abandon the profession.

He cautioned that the increase should be uniform to all government workers.

Mr Atanasio said rural areas lack teachers and that out of 73 houses dedicated to the State Ministries only four were occupied by senior officials of Education.

He complained that Western Bahr el Ghazal has no County Education Centres to train teachers and rural areas around Wau town lack boarding schools for girls to further their studies in secondary schools.
