The Government of South Sudan is committed to the presidential summit between Salva Kiir Mayardit and Omar Hassan al-Bashir despite of the attacks from SAF, the Sudan Armed Forces, in Northern Bahr El Ghazal.

Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin said the Cabinet placed the implementation of the cooperation agreements as priority despite of SAF’s border attacks.

He said South Sudan was committed to implement the nine cooperation agreements that represented the roadmap for peace between South Sudan and Sudan.

Dr Marial said President Kiir will go to Addis Ababa on Friday to meet President al-Bashir to push for implementation of the cooperation agreements and work out ways for pending issues, including Abyei.

He explained that the two presidents should pave the way for the negotiators from both countries to agree on the implementation of the cooperation agreements.

Dr Marial said South Sudan Chief Negotiator Pagan Amum left Juba Thursday evening for Addis Ababa to prepare the summit.

He added the situation in Western and Northern Bahr Ghazal states has been contained.

Dr Marial said Northern Bahr El Ghazal Governor Paul Malong reported that his state was calm following Wednesday’s SAF aggression.
