Lainya County, in the diocese of Yei, has become an independent parish on Sunday, separating from Yei’s Christ the King dedicated to the Holy Family.
Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe of Yei encouraged the faithful of the new parish to work hard towards self reliance to build and develop the new parish and to assist its priests, Radio Easter reported.The Parish Priest told the congregation that the priests serving in the parish belong to the Divine Word Society and come from different countries to work with the people of Lainya.
Lainya County intellectuals thanked the Bishop and the Divine Word missionaries for opening the Lainya parish.
Doctor Yata Lori said the church is very important because it works towards development of both spiritual life and physical infrastructure in the Country.
Catchiest Zachariah Loku said that he was happy with the opening of the new parish relieving his of the burden of leading the zone alone.
