A retired Catholic Bishop has called the people of South Sudan to declare 2013 the year of work to feed the country.
Bishop Paride Taban told CRN on Monday that the whole population has to work hard for the country to become strong and stop depending on food from outside.

He said people should not depend on oil that was discovered decades ago, but till the land like their great grandfathers did.

Bishop Taban said his message to the people of South Sudan for 2013 is “prayer and work”.

He added that Kuron Peace Village is an example that should be replicated somewhere else.

Bishop Taban said the village now supplies cabbages to Torit, Kapoeta and Narus and that it also produces bananas, papaya not known before.

He added that work can build peace among the people.
