The Vice President inaugurated on Monday the improved multi-service training centre in Juba.

Riek Machar Teny said the MTC will play an important role in the development of human resources in the country and generate the skills for sustainable development.

He appreciated the Japan International Cooperation Agency or JICA for rebuilding and expanding the facilities at the MTC.

Takeshi Akamatsu, special representative of Japan, said the MTC’s rehabilitation cost 14 million US Dollars.

He added that the money came from a Japanese grant aid for conflict prevention and peace building through services.

JICA representative Atsushi Hanatani said the MTC will create employment among the youth.

He called on the Government to standardize vocational training.

Mr Hanatani said it was the responsibility of the authorities to make use of the MTC.

He announced that JICA has already graduated 1,200 South Sudanese in various fields.

The Juba-MTC was built in 1973, after the Addis Ababa peace agreement and the civil war affected the facility.
