Malaria and syphilis are on the rise in Tonj South County of Warrap State.
Emmanuel Madit Tiran is the new the lab technician doctor posted to Tonj Civil Hospital.He told Don Bosco FM that malaria and syphilis were the most common diseases in Tonj.
He explained that syphilis infections come through unprotected sex.
Dr Madit said out of ten people tested for syphilis, seven were positive.
He urged people to go to a nearby health centre whenever they felt unwell to test for malaria and other diseases and get life-saving treatment.
Dr Madit explained that the hospital was a place for everyone to go for treatment regardless of status or gender.
He was among the three specialized doctors that were transferred last week from Kwajok to Tonj.
