About 1,280 returnees have been tracked heading to their final destination in South Sudan between October 11 and 18.

UNOCHA said a number of spontaneous returnees have arrived at the transit sites in Renk of Upper Nile, while some are heading to various areas within the state.

About 14,500 returnees remain in four transit sites in Renk and that medical screening and distribution of food will start shortly.

Preparations to bring some 1,200 people from Renk to Juba by barge are ongoing and the journey is expected to take two weeks.

Relief and Rehabilitation Commission and the Africa Inland Church have offered to transport about 2,000 individuals from Khartoum to Juba by air.

So far, 484 people have been flown to Juba and that flights are expected to resume next week.

Next week too, a road convoy of 307 returnees will leave Juba way station for Rumbek, Wau, Aweil, Kwajok and Turalei.
