EASTERN EQUATORIA ASSEMBLY APPLAUDS COOPERATION DEAL

Members of Eastern Equatoria Assembly on Wednesday voiced their support for the cooperation agreement signed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, between South Sudan and Sudan last month.

The lawmakers, who were recalled from recess to attend the public address, gave their approval after Governor Louis Lobong Lojore briefed them on the agreement, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi said the cooperation agreement will allow South Sudan to come out of the economic crisis following the closedown of oil production.

He added that it also enables South Sudanese in Sudan to live peacefully and keep their property.

Governor Lobong told the Assembly that the agreement included issues of trade and banking cooperation to facilitate exchange of currencies between the two countries.

The parties also entered into a number of common security issues and border demarcation.

State ministers, commissioners, heads of commission, directors general of state ministries, commanders of organised forces representatives of UN agencies and community based organizations attended the briefing.
