The General Education Ministry said on Monday in Juba it got 9.6 million textbooks, including supplementary readers’ books, through the support from UKAID, the British Government’s international development department.

Undersecretary at the General Education Ministry, Deng Deng Hoc Yai, told CRN that this was the first time South Sudan distributed textbooks in such a significant number.

He described the occasion as “historical achievement.”

Mr Deng said the text books were printed with money from UKAID.

He announced that the books will be distributed after a three-day workshop to explaining how to go about the delivery process and its timetable.

The workshop kicks off in Juba on Tuesday.

Mr Deng said the Ministry of General Education and the UK government would announce in the evening a new project funded by UKAID.
