The National Ministry of Commerce says fuel prices should be lowered to four Pounds since there are no reasons that justify keeping it at six pounds.

Undersecretary in the Ministry of Commerce fixed Simon Nyang was delegated by the minister to visit all petrol stations in Juba to monitor prices and fuel quality, Bakhita Radio reported.

He told the press he visited a number of petrol stations around Juba and found that they were still selling fuel at six Pounds per litre while it reaches the border at 1.5 US dollars.

The undersecretary informed that the ministry of commerce was going to sit down with the ministry of petroleum to fix fuel prices in South Sudan.

Hass Petroleum country manager Boro Joseph Nagib said the company could not sell fuel at four Pounds per litre until they met with stakeholders from the ministry of oil.

He said they are going to discuss the issue with the ministry of petroleum before the end of this week.

BASS Petroleum general manager Osman Sirayon said the company was unable to reduce the price of fuel because they were paying 27,000 Pounds of taxes in Nimule.

He added that if the Government brought taxes down BASS could lower fuel prices to four Pounds.
