The Media Council of Tanzania has advised South Sudan to take time in scrutinizing the media bills to avoid bad media laws.

Paul Yoane Bonju is a member of Committee of Information at the Legislative Assembly and was in Tanzania in a fact finding mission.

He said the delegation was told that it was better to have no laws instead of having bad media laws.

Mr Bonju added that Tanzania’s independent media authority could be a source of inspiration to South Sudan.

He said the media should respect the state and enlighten citizens.

Mr Bonju called on the media practitioners to be patient and not to do things rushing to avoid mistakes.

The Committee of Information, Culture and Telecommunication in the national Legislative Assembly visited Tanzania last month to acquaint with the situation of the media authority in the country.
