Small and medium enterprises in South Sudan need a boost to conduct businesses and overcome the effects of a long civil war.

The acting chairperson for Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Modi Balla Tombe said the private sector in South Sudan is working under the umbrella of South Sudan Business Forum, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said the private sector in South Sudan lacks capacity.

Zahia Msuya Lolila, country director for International Finance Corporation or IFC, said trainers, sponsors, donors, government agencies and investors needed to learn from each other to develop a policy that addresses the problems of small and medium enterprises in the country.

She said her corporation was the IMF arm that cooperated with the private sector and supported banks, insurance companies and investment funds.

Mr Msuya added that IFC was working in partnership with Commercial Bank of South Sudan to build the capacity of small and medium enterprises in the country.
