Defeating hunger and malnutrition requires political resolve and partners and government have to come together to face many-sided challenges.
UN Wold Food Programme (WFP) South Sudan Country Director Chris Nikoi said it takes dedication, commitment and hard work to defeat hunger.He added that WFP will continue to strengthen government disaster management capacity to respond to floods and other emergencies.
Mr Nikoi said WFP will work closely with the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) to support education in rural communities of South Sudan.
He added that hoped WFP would strengthen vocational training centres at the state and county levels.
He announced that WFP plans to buy more food from small producers, continue to build feeder roads and support the government through the ministry of Agriculture.
Mr Nikoi was talking at the World Food Day celebration in Juba on Tuesday that brought together top national and state government officials, NGOs and civil society organizations.
