YAMBIO PUPILS COMMEMORATE GLOBAL HAND WASHING DAY

13 primary schools in Yambio town on Monday joined the rest of the world to commemorate the global hand washing day in Nabima Primary School.

The celebration was under the theme: “help more children to reach their 5th birth day”.

The UNICEF representative urged pupils to practice washing hands with clean water and soap daily to minimise the risk of disease infections by 30 percent.

Yambio Commissioner, John Kuzee Elias urged the pupils to take the message home and tell their parents to provide toilets and sanitary facilities.

The Directorate of Water and Sanitation in the State Ministry of Physical Infrastructure distributed awards to the three best schools with clean environment in Yambio.

Yabongo Primary School won the first position and received three cartons of Soap, St. Mary Primary won the second and took two cartons and Nabima Primary won the third took and was given on carton.

The occasion that drew together pupils, teachers, parents, NGOs and government officials ended by washing hands with clean water and soap demonstrated by South Sudan Red Cross Society.
