The Central Equatoria State on Tuesday joined the world in commemorating the World Food Day under the theme; √É”Agricultural Cooperative √ɬêKey to feeding the world”.
The commemoration was to highlight the role of cooperatives in improving food security and contribute to eradicate hunger.State Minister for Agriculture and Forestry Michael Roberto Kenyi urged farmers in South Sudan to reflect back in order to draw good lessons that were practice in the past and incorporate to the present.
He said people in towns need to go to their own villages to cultivate and have good harvest to feed their families.
Mr Roberto said the government is fully aware of the challenges facing farmers in the State in connecting their production areas to the markets.
World food day is celebrated annually on 16 October to raise awareness and understanding of approaches to end hunger.
The occasion draw participant from governments, national and international organisations.
