GIDEL PARISH CELEBRATES ST COMBONI DAY

The Sts Peter and Paul Gidel Parish celebrated on Saturday the feast of St. Daniel Comboni.

Presiding over the Eucharistic Celebration, Fr Yahwana Alamin of Lugi Parish told the congregation that Bishop Comboni encountered a lot of challenges during his arrival in Sudan.

He said Bishop Comboni loved Africans, worked tirelessly for their freedom and helped to stop slave trade in the Sudan.

Sr Mary Carmen, on behalf of Comboni Missionary Sisters, encouraged the Christians to follow the steps of Comboni.

She added that Comboni was able to stand all the sufferings in order to implement his Plan “Save Africa by Africans”.

During the celebration, 32 young Christians from Gidel Parish received the Sacrament of Baptism and 19 of them received Holy Communion.

Around 3,000 Christians including some dignitaries from Kumbur Payam Administrationattended the ceremony.
