SECURITY MEETING AFTER PARLIAMENT ENDORSES COOPERATION DEAL

South Sudan Minister of Information said Friday that the joint security meeting will take place once the cooperation agreement with Sudan is endorsed by the national parliament.

Barnaba Marial Benjamin was quoted by Sudanese radio on Friday saying that the joint security committee and other panels will meet once the National Legislative Assembly ratifies Addis Ababa deals.

Dr Marial called on President Omer Al-ABshir and Sudanese government to open direct talks with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement √ɬê North (SPLM-N)

He stressedÊ the need to settle difference in the South Kordofan and Blue NileÊ states included in the 2005 peace agreement.

Dr Marial said President Kiir is ready to facilitate an agreement between the two parties.

He noted that the opening of the border will strengthen the agreement as people from both sides will resume trade and discuss issues of bilateral interest.

The Minister denied that his government supports the SPLM-N.
