Girl pupils are discouraging their peers and parents to engage in early marriage.
Victoria Lurit Suleiman told CRN that if a young girl married early she would look like an old woman after losing on her education.She advised girls to continue with their education in order to support their families in the future and then think about marriage.
She called on parents to take care of their children and allow girls to go to school together with boys.
Diana Jwan Dominic told girls not to get married early to avoid wives’ troubles.
She called on parents to send them daughters to schools instead of keeping them at home to cook and do other domestic works.
Another pupil who declined to tell her name urged parents to allow their daughters to go to school and treat girls and boys equally because girls are also the future of the nation.
She urged parents to push their reluctant daughters to school because they will be able to help the parents at the end of their education.
The girls expressed their views in the sidelines of the celebration of the International Girl Child Day on Thursday at Juba Technical Secondary School.
