A charity has given 7,000 pounds to 50 traders in Leer, Unity State, in an effort to boost the local economy and bring food prices down.

Mercy Corps’ project officer, Kouny Riek Kuch told Internews Network that the charity distribute the money to the traders for them to go and bring goods and slow down the food prices.

He said that money was also given to farmers mid year to respond to austerity measures.

Mr Kouny urged traders to use their goods very well and work hard for the sake of the community.
