Intellectuals in Wau have raised concerns on the economical crisis currently facing the country.

Maurice Michael, a civil activist in Wau suggested that the affected states have to downsize their work force.

Philip Abiel, University lecturer, said the new budget is a sharp knife on the common citizens’ neck.

He added that to solve the financial crisis the national government must reduce its ministers and advisors in order to minimize expenditures.

The acting Minister of Finance, Zachariah Joseph Garang, said the state is hosting a large number of residents from other states and foreign nationals, who receive services as citizens.

President Salva Kiir during the first independence anniversary announced the downsizing his government, but reduction of public expenditure is the main agenda of most local institutions and a major concern for the citizens.
