Mission requires Pastors who represent Christ in holiness of life, prudent and forward-looking, ready to generously spend their time to the Gospel and bear in their hearts the kindness for all the Churches.

Pope Benedict XVI called on the Bishops to be committed to initial evangelization and the consolidation of faith.

The Pope said the young Churches are a sign of hope for the future of the universal Church, Vatican Agenzia Fides reported.

He urged the Bishops to take seriously the inculturation of faith, the formation of candidates to the priesthood, the care of the diocesan clergy, and laity.

The Pope said a correct inculturation of the faith will help Bishops to make the Gospel alive in the cultures of peoples and to take from them what is good.

He also urged the Bishops to observe the world with the eyes of faith, in order to understand it deeply; and have a generous heart, ready to enter in communion with the people of this time.

The Pope further urged the Bishops to create a new fraternity in the face of instability, lack of food, health and educational emergencies, discrimination, fundamentalism, and lack of respect for the weak, that affect most of the young Churches,

The Pope was addressing the Bishops of circumscriptions in new territories dependent on the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, who are participating in a congress.
