The National Constitutional Review Commission has today launched and presented its action plan to the international community.
The Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Akolda Man Tier, said since the beginning of September 2012 the Commission has funds to start its demanding tasks, butÊ needs international community support to implement expensive activities, like hiring international experts.Amanuel Hiruy, speaking on behalf of UN Secretary General Special representative, Hilde Johnson praised the action plan.
He added that it seems a discouraging task for the Commission to finalize a draft constitutional text by January 2013 if extensive public consultation and consensus building is pursued.
Hiruy hopes that the President of the Republic will accept the request for an extension of the time allocated to the Commission to implement its tasks.
The action plan was presented in details by the Secretary General of the national Constitutional Review Commission, John Natana Abraham.
The event that was sponsored by International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) South Sudan brought together representative of UNMISS, diplomatic missions and international NGOs.
