SPLM-North forces have claimed victory over the Sudanese soldiers in a fighting on Wednesday in Haja-Aldom located north east of Kalogi town.

The attack came when NCP officials declined the entry of humanitarian assistance in the war zones and failed to agree with the SPLM-North on the talks.

SPLM-North Spokesman Mr. Arnu Ngatulu Lodi said that the fighting claimed many lives of the government soldiers.

Mr. Ngatulu claimed that SPLM-North soldiers ambushed a patrol between Rashad and Al-Faid killing 1 government soldier, injuring 5 and captured a P.K.M among other military equipments.

He disclosed that Lieutenant Colonel Adam Hamed Adam Abdel-Rahim government loyalist has defected on 1 September, last week with over 30 men.

The defection of Col. Hamed raises questions about the government’s treatment of its security forces and the citizens.

The people of Rashid County experience mass execution in a counterinsurgency campaign supported by ethnic Arab militia nomads last year when the government declared war on the state Nuba Mountains.
