WOMEN URGE LEADERS TO PROMOTE PEACE AND UNITY

A Nuer Community women representative in Yei, has urged the South Sudanese leaders to promote peace and unity among the communities in the new nation.

Nyaluak Maluit asked the leaders of the new nation to embrace peace and unity for the prosperity of the country.

She added that people need to avoid tribalism and nepotism and encourage the spirit of nationalism in their communities.

Mrs Nyaluak added that people should send their children to school to learn knowledge of good governance.

Former Nuer Chief for Mahad area in Yei, John Chuol Nyieth said people need to promote democracy and equality in the country.

Mr. Chuol praised the people of Yei for being humble and peacefully in the County.

The outgoing chairman, Yuannes Yual Kai said the community has being effective and consistent in matters of peace promotion in the county.

Mr. Yual revealed that since his election in 2006 to-date, no criminal case was reported against the Nuer youths, which is a good sign that the youths are understandable.

These statements were made in a community meeting held at Tinatinde Hotel in Yei Town last Saturday.
