An opposition party condemned rebel attacks against the army in Likwangole Payam of Pibor County, Jonglei State.
Rebels believed to be loyal to renegade General Yau Yau attacked the SPLA in Likwangole at least three times and left 31 soldier dead and several others missing.South Sudan Democratic Movement Chairperson Peter Kuol Chol told the press Friday in Juba that his party condemned Gen. Yau Yau’s attacks in Jonglei, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said the attacks may destabilize the people of Pibor, Jonglei state and the nation at large.
Mr Kuol called on Gen. Yau Yau to seek peace instead of resorting to violence that disrupts life in Pibor.
He said this is a time for peace and not to kill innocent Murle people.
Mr Kuol called on Gen. Yau Yau to put aside violence and embrace peace for the development in the country.
He urged Murle youths to distance from violence, look for ways to develop the area and return to school.
Mr Kuol strongly urged General Yau Yau to make peace with the Government of South Sudan.
