Lainya County was shocked by the sudden death of its newly appointed Commissioner Tereka Shadaraka on Friday in a private hospital in Juba.

Pojulu Community Leader Martin Elia Lomuro told CRN that the untimely death of Commissioner Tereka has shocked the whole community and it followed the losses of Dr Samson Kwaje and Jimmy Lemi.

He said late Tereka had started a serious work to organise Lainya County and transform the headquarters into a true county capital.

Dr Elia added that Mr Tereka’s death left a gap in the county.

He said the community will work to choose his successor.

Dr Elia urged the Pojulu community to stand firm and take ownership of their leader’s remains.

National MP Thomas Wani Kundu said Commissioner Tereka will be remembered by reviving the history of Pojulu people through the statue of their great founder Gombura Lo’duun Ki who was forced by the British to carry a foundation stone to build Yei District.

He stressed that the people of Lainya County will not forget Mr Tereka for putting up the statue of their leader who helped establishing Yei District by the colonials.

Mr Wani said Gombura’s statue in the Centre of Lainya returned the foundation stone to its rightful place.

Deputy Health Minister Yatta Lori said he visited MrTereka at his house three weeks back and he was looking well.

He added that the late was diagnosed with Hepatitis C and he advised him not take alcohol and to seek medical treatment.

The family of tlate Commissioner Tereka has decided to lay his body to rest at Mundu Boma of Kupera Payam.

The body will remain in Juba for three days while the Pojulu community work out a plan to either fly the body by the helicopter or bring it by land to his resting place.
