A group of children is ready to start producing their own radio programmes after they completed specific training.

Free Voice conducted a week-long Participatory Children’s Programme in Torit open to staff from the three radio stations operating in Eastern Equatoria and some school children.

War Child-Holland team leader Caroline Veldhuizen told Radio Emmanuel at the end of the training that the participants discussed various issues related to children’s radio programmes.

She said children made some recordings during the week and put a programme together at the end of the training to show off their new skills.

Ms Veldhuizen said two children were selected as presenters and a third was controlling the emission.

She added that the end result was just great.

The first Children’s Participatory Radio Programme will be aired on Radio Emmanuel and on Voice of Eastern Equatoria state in two weeks.

The training that started on Monday and end on Friday was organized by War Child-Holland and South Sudan Association for Recovery, Returnees and Displaced Affairs.

Participants came from Mairo Primary School, Radio Emmanuel, Voice of Eastern Equatoria and Grace FM.
