Juba City Council has purchased giant compactor vehicles to collect hard waste in the city.

Deputy Mayor David Lokonga Moses told Bakhita Radio that his office bough from Dubai ten trucks to collect hard waste and five small vehicles for office use.

He explained that the fleet cost about five million Pounds and the money was raised locally.

Mr Lokonga revealed that the City Council lost too much money hiring private trucks for garbage collection and they were real health hazards.

He said each huge new yellow truck has the capacity to carry the loads of ten tipper lorries.

Mr Lokonga explained that the ten trucks were enough to cover Juba.

He said the City Council could extend garbage collection to nearby payams like Rejaf and Northern Bari if an agreement was celebrated with Juba County.

The ten trucks were displayed on Thursday throuhg the streets of Juba.

The City Council is yet to announce the official inauguration of the new hard waste collection service.
