Chiefs in Nasir County of Upper Nile State organised compensation for the victims of tribal clashes that took place between 2008 and 2009.
Ten people from the Chengwang and Chengkeuk clans were killed during the clashes, Internews reported.Chief James Mach Gatbel said eight families were already compensated.
He added that he hoped that the remaining two would be compensated soon.
Chief Mach explained that the death of a person killed in the warfront was compensated with 50 cows.
He added that a murder was compensated with 70 cows to reconcile communities and mitigate conflict among clans.
Deputy chief Kek Gany Buokjiok said the commissioner ordered for those compensations.
He called on the youths to stop violence and engage in business and promote development of the young nation.
The chiefs pledged to continue working towards reconciling communities to avoid violence.
