Relief and Rehabilitation Commission Chairperson said the Government has decided to map this year’s floods in order to preposition critical assistance before next year’s rains unlike this year.
Peter Lam Both told CRN that some flood affected areas are far from the road and are reached only by air.He said this year the Commission does not have capacity to assist many flood victims because food, blankets, medicines and other critical aid were not prepositioned before the rains started.
Mr Lam said 172,874 families – the equivalent to over 307 thousand individuals √ɬê were affected and displaced by floods across South Sudan.
The Commission together with relief committees across the country are trying to respond to the crisis despite bad roads and lack of humanitarian aid.
