Traditional chiefs have always been at the foundation of change and they have to be part of the solid transformation process in the nation.

This was said by Central Equatoria Deputy Governor, Manase Lomole, Monday morning in Yei.

Mr Lomole was speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of 35 chiefs from the six counties of Central Equatoria who form the state Council of Traditional Authority Leadership.

He added that traditional chiefs are key for improved service delivery because they work closely with the people at grassroots.

Mr Lomole said the traditional authority leaders are very important in nation building and solve issues of tribalism, cattle raiding, bad cultures and marriage.

He urged the new sworn-in traditional leaders to be the light of the people and of the nation.

The Deputy Governor added that traditional chiefs should bear all the challenges they will face while serving the people in the six counties of Central Equatoria.

After the swearing-in ceremony, the Deputy Governor together with Central Equatoria Minister for Local Government, the commissioners of Yei, Morobu, Kajo Keji and Juba and others visited the Yei Civil Hospital and the Catholic Bishop.

More than 70 people attended the swearing-in ceremony of 35 traditional leaders from the six counties of the State to form Central Equatoria Council of Traditional Authority Leadership.
