The national minister for gender, child and social welfare has called for the protection of children’s rights in South Sudan.
Minister Agnes Kawaje Lasuba told Radio Easter on Saturday that the Child Act stipulates the protection of children through education to improve their situation in the country.Mama Kawaje added that the ministry has a policy of tracing out abducted children to reunite them with their own families.
She added that the authorities advise those involved in child abduction to get kids through through adoption.
Mama Kawaje said laws will be enacted nationwide to protect women against domestic violence in South Sudan.
The number of street kids is increasing every month in Yei and nothing is being done for the kids who lost their parents during the struggle and they have to survive in the streets.
The minister was speaking in Yei on Saturday after she attended a one-day conference for all the MPs representing the County in the state and national parliaments.
