There has been heavy fighting between Sudanese troops and SPLA-North forces after the army tried to loot the villages of Tagali, Rashad and Abasiya early in the week in Nuba Mountains.
SPLM-North spokesperson Arnu Ngattulu Lodi said the rebels managed to chase government troops that were setting houses on fire and looting property.He stated that 17 government troops were killed and at least 24 wounded.
Mr Ngattulu added that one SPLA-North fighter was killed and two others wounded.
He claimed that the rebels sized two pickups from the government and destroyed one truck and other military hardware.
