Food prices fell in Yei markets after the new harvest was put on sale.

Farm Radio Coordinator for Christian Reformed World Committee, Hakim Engenious, told Radio Easter this morning that a survey in the three Yei markets showed that food prices are much cheaper than in July.

He said in July prices went up 80 percent while in August maize and sorghum went down ten to 15 percent due to the new harvest.

Mr Engenious explained that heavy rains did not allow the supply of goods at the beginning of the month.

He added that the weather improved and the markets are well stocked with local and cheaper produce.

Mr Engenious appealed to farmers and the traders to cooperate with each other in order to develop agriculture and trade in the county.
