Lakes state Prison Service has graduated 375 prison warders, including 66 women, after about one year of in-service formation at Makembele Prison Training Centre.
Lakes State Director for Prison Services Brigadier Bol Ador told the crowd at the graduation ceremony in Rumbek Freedom Square on Wednesday that the training equipped prisons staff to discharge their duties and responsibilities professionally, Good News Radio reported.Lakes state Governor Chol Tong Mayay said the formation was the first joint training for prison officers from the eight counties of Lakes State since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).
The Governor said the prison warders are ready to implement law and order in their counties.
Engineer Tong confirmed that prison warders free prisoners along tribal lines in rural areas of Lakes in exchange for fat envelopes containing money.
