Wau Football Association has officially turned down in invitation from South Sudan Football Association to participate in the National Cup Tournament unless they change the rules.
Wau Football Association Secretary Pons Ukola Pons told Voice of Hope that the players will not participate in the national competition because conditions and terms laid down by South Sudan Football Association contradict the local Constitution. He explained that the limit of 20 players per team contradicts agreements made before allowing every team to enter up to 30 players.
He added that the Nile Football Club will not play in the national cup if seven contradicting points were not altered in the regulations.
Mr Ukola said the organizers imposed a 1,000-pound fee per club to register for the competition.
He explained that it is not clear where to deposit money for fees and fines.
Mr Ukola accused the national association of contacting local teams bypassing the state association.
He charged that South Sudan Football Association is not developing the national game and these conditions will have a negative impact in the modality.
Nile Football Club is currently the Western Bahr El Ghazal state champion.
The team should represent the state in the National Cup Tournament that started on July 28.
