The Government of Japan and IOM, the International Organization for Migration, signed Monday in Juba an agreement for border control and migration management in South Sudan.

The Embassy of Japan said in a press release that the agreement Ð values at 5.4 million US Dollars Ð strengthens the capacity of the Government of South Sudan on border migration management.

It supports fair and equitable migration, improves national and regional security, and strengthens the central state institutions to exert authority at its national boundaries.

In 2012, Japan has contributed approximately 37 million US Dollars to meet immediate needs for South Sudan.
