Deadly clashes are taking place in the restive area of Al-Fragil, near Dilling, South Kordofan, between the SPLA-North rebels and the Sudanese army.
Fighting in Al-Fragil began on Tuesday this week.SPLM-North spokesman Arnu Ngatulu Lodi said in an email that Sudan Armed Forces (SFA) attacked Al-fragil on Tuesday with heavy artillery.
He claimed that 57 government dead soldiers were left on the ground and 116 buried in a mass grave.
Mr Ngatulu said that SPLA-North lost three soldiers and another three sustained minor injuries.
He added that the forces that attacked Al-Fragil were mobilized from various Sudanese states including militia forces loyal to Kafi Tair from Kadugli.
The spokesman said SAF used about 80 vehicles equipment with military hardware, two tanks and six war planes in the assault to Al-Fragil.
