Investigations into the alleged missing four billion US Dollars saga is in progress and may prove the claim to be false.

Vice-president Riek Machar Teny said allegations of theft of public resources in South Sudan are being investigated and they could be false, Good News Radio reported.

He explained that South Sudan received about 11 Billion US Dollars from Khartoum’s Government after the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and it is hard to imagine that one third of that money was stolen.

The Vice President said there could be a politically motivated drive behind the allegations.

He expressed confidence that investigators from the World Bank will soon bring light into the issue.

Dr Machar urged Lakes State residents to join the SPLM.

Recalling that it was in Lakes State that Dr John Garang told the people of South Sudan that he had brought peace in a golden plate to all in the country, the Vice-President called on the young people to consider joining the SPLM.

Dr Machar made these statements Tuesday morning at Rumbek’s Freedom Square during a rally to thank Lakes State’s support to the ruling party.

He also visited Mapel County on Tuesday afternoon.

National Minister for Energy, David Deng Athorbei, was among the entourage that accompanied Dr Machar in his visit to Lakes State.
