Torit Catholic Cathedral stands tall like its patron saints Peter and Paul having survived six bombings.
Catholic Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek of Torit reminded Christians of the hardships the Church endured during the time of civil war, Radio Emmanuel reported.He recounted events where several Christians were punished, some lost their lives while others survived to serve the Lord with love and commitment.
Bishop Akio said the cathedral church survived six bombings and stands as a rock like its patron saints Peter and Paul.
He urged Christians to ask God for the gift of zeal to be his servants, loving, faithful and forgiving.
Bishop Akio asked Christians to focus on the history of the Church, the contributions of the apostles and the unity.
He asked God to bless South Sudan.
Bishop Akio said the community was celebrating the love, joy and faith received through Apostles Peter and Paul.
The Bishop made the comments on Sunday during the celebration of Saints Peter and Paul, Apostles, the patron saints of the Torit Cathedral.
Hundreds of Christians turned up for the feast with excitement and jubilation.
The celebration mass lasted about four hours.
