An Eden Bank administrator was shot dead and money taken by robbers on Friday during a road ambush in Juba.
The incident happened Friday when unknown gunmen attacked the vehicle that was carrying the money from Eden Branch at Custom’s the Bus Terminal to the main offices in Malakia late in the evening.
A bank officer who does not want his name to be disclosed explained to CRN today that the administrator was taking a shortcut behind the SSTV compound when a white van stopped right in front of his car.
A man with a pistol pulled out of it and fired two shots at the administrator.
He said before the incident took place on Friday, a Colonel from Ministry of Interior came to the branch in Custom at five o’clock wanting to transfer money to Yambio but he was told they were closed.
The military insisted and tried to force himself in the Bank’s office.
When the police guard pointed a gun at him he made a call and in few minutes a police vehicle arrived.
The guard and the branch operation manager were taken and beaten up with the allegation the guard was trying to shot him.
We distorted his voice.
The robbers escaped with 140,000 Pounds, 3,000 US Dollars and over one billion Ugandan shillings.
The police did not make any arrest so far.
