Malaria is the top cause for admission at Yambio Civil Hospital followed by pneumonia, sleeping sickness, and HIV AIDS.
Senior medical officer Julius Caesar told Anisa FM that 40 out of 105 patients admitted in the medical wards suffer from malaria.Yambio Hospital Matron Teresa Dominic Dabi said there are no more beds in the wards for admitting new patients.
She added that the hospital is facing problems with treating patients and controlling new infections because different patients with different illness are in the same room.
Ms Dabi appealed to the health ministry to employ more nurses to ease work in the wards.
She also requested that drugs supply reach the hospital in time and other missing equipments.
Matron Mekelina urged patients to seek medical advice rather than staying sick at home.
