The Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North clashed with contingents of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) north of Kurmuk in Blue Nile State.
SPLM-North spokesman Arnu Ngattulu Lodi said in an email that the fighting at Kila began on Wednesday and lasted almost 48 hours.Kila lies 20 kilometres from Kurmuk.
Mr Ngattulu wrote that 14 SAF soldiers were killed and more than a dozen wounded.
He added that four SPLA-North soldiers died and a number were wounded.
The figures could not be verified independently.
The spokesman also said SPLA-North seized land cruiser vehicles equipped with military hardware as well as some trucks with food.
