The high rate of the American Dollars has led to big price increases in Yei River County.
Yei Chamber of Commerce officer Felix Sebit told Radio Easter that an expensive Dollar is affecting negatively prices in Yei markets.He added that fuel is also affecting the cost of living because traders pay much more for the transport of goods and want to recover their investments.
Mr Sebit appealed to the Central Bank of South Sudan to supply traders directly with Dollars to bring prices down.
The official said illegal tax collection is still practiced and also affects the prices of goods.
Trader Alex Lokolong said wholesalers do not sell commodities to small retailers but rather to the big store sellers who control the prices.
He appealed to the Government to advise wholesalers to regulate their prices.
Trader Malish Emmanuel blamed the Government for the cost of living because it does not mind about the economic situation of the country.
