The Council of Ministers has approved an amount of 18 million US Dollars to boost water supply in Juba.

Government spokesman Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press after the meeting that the money is to buy chemicals for water purification and diesel.

He said the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation presented the proposal to allow the Water Corporation to begin functioning and expand its services in Juba.

Dr Marial said Minister Paul Mayom presented his plans for a comprehensive water supply throughout the country.

Almost half of that money will be used to pay contract obligations.

Yesterday, the government of Japan gave a grant of 50 million Dollars to extend water distribution in Juba.

The cabinet was chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
